(English version is below)

Over the past three years, I've been deeply engrossed in logging daily German lessons on Duolingo. The daily consistency filled me with a sense of achievement, and watching the days of consecutive check-ins accumulate made me feel like I was continuously progressing. However, after surpassing the milestone of over 1000 days, I suddenly felt a profound emptiness. Those packed logs, although impressive, revealed that my German proficiency had not reached the expected level. This led to a gradual extinguishing of my passion for learning. This experience forced me to deeply reflect: Was I truly using my time in the most sensible way?

This reflection inspired the idea of developing a schedule management app centered around the concept of “smart action.” While designing this app, I delved into how to manage time more efficiently and meaningfully, avoiding the trap of working merely to “show that I am working.” During the app’s development, I established two fundamental philosophies: setting clear goals and working in harmony with one’s personal rhythms.

Firstly, setting clear goals is crucial. Had I defined a specific goal at the beginning of my German learning process, such as reaching the C1 level within a year, my learning path and experience would undoubtedly have been different. Clear goals not only provide direction for our efforts but are also essential for continuously offering feedback that helps maintain motivation; even in failure, they serve as data to adjust our future goal settings.

Secondly, adapting to one’s own work rhythm is critical for effective time management. Our intense desire to achieve goals can lead us to overlook the importance of how we use our time most effectively. For example, we might attempt to send emails during work breaks, without considering how frequent task switching can significantly reduce work efficiency and quality. Moreover, although we might plan to spend several hours studying on a Sunday, we overlook studies showing that optimal focus usually lasts only 25 to 30 minutes. This implies that prolonged study sessions should be interspersed with appropriate breaks to maintain efficiency.

By better understanding these principles and accepting our work and learning limitations, we can plan our time more scientifically, avoiding the need to force task completion when we are mentally or physically unwell. For instance, if I were more realistic in evaluating my learning habits, avoiding overly optimistic time estimates (like "even though I still have 300 words to learn, I can definitely finish in 10 minutes"), I would be able to set more truthful goals, reduce feelings of frustration during the learning process, and enhance my learning outcomes.

These experiences and reflections not only manifest in my learning life but also profoundly influence the development of this app. Through this app, I hope to help users act intelligently rather than busily. Our time is precious because life itself is finite. If we realize that we can only work and live for a certain number of hours each day, we are more likely to cherish our time and think about how to achieve goals within our allotted time.

In our hectic lives, every choice is a use of our precious time. By setting clear goals and adapting to personal rhythms, we can not only complete tasks more effectively but also create more space in our lives to rest, spend time with family, and enjoy moments with friends. This is the essence of "smart action" — not just for efficiency, but for the quality of life. I hope that this app and my sharing can inspire more people to use their time in wiser ways.
